Permissions and plans

Two things decide what someone sees in ekPOS: their role and your plan.

Roles and permissions

Every user has a role, such as Admin, Cashier or Accountant. A role is a set of permissions — view products, create sales, open register, export reports and so on. Admins can do everything.

When a user tries something their role doesn't allow, they see a 403 page saying You do not have permission to perform this action or You do not have access to this module, with a button back to the dashboard. The menu hides pages a user's role doesn't allow, so this happens mostly through a saved link or a button inside a page.

Administrators set up roles under User Management → Roles. See Roles and permissions.

Plan features

Your subscription plan decides which optional parts of ekPOS your business has:

Area Optional parts
Modules Accounting, Repairs, Gift Cards, Price Lists
Reports Most reports can be included or left out individually
Integrations REST API, ETA e-invoicing, WooCommerce

Parts your plan doesn't include are hidden from the menu. Opening one directly shows a 403 page: This feature is not included in your plan.

Plans can also set limits — the number of users, locations, products, roles and custom fields. Reaching a limit stops you adding more, with a message saying so; it never affects what you already have.

To change your plan, contact ekPOS.
